The African Research and Resource Forum (ARRF) is a research, data resource, reflection and discourse organization devoted to the enhancement of thinking on African governance and development. ARRF is a non-partysan, non-governmental, non-profit, independent international forum for the interaction and sharing of ideas among scholars, researchers, opinion leaders and individuals. Its core activities are research, resource mobilization, debate, analysis, publication and dissemination of findings.

The Forum also facilitates capacity building for institutions and individuals, supports policy advocacy and provides consultancy and advisory services intended to encourage a

culture of utilizing research findings for development initiatives. ARRF is set to play a major role in integrating African economies, harmonizing Africa's diverse cultures and protecting Africa's re sources and environment.

Most importantly, ARRF aims to play a critical role in reversing the fortunes of the African continent from economic and political regress to peace and prosperity. Most research into Africa's development processes has so far focused on an economic dimension with the emphasis and success indicators placed on sustained and stable growth of national product and consumption per head. Economic change has been at the center of policy analysis. Attention has been firmly focused on aggregate variables rather than on individual people. Not surprisingly, dormant economic research institutions have ignored cultural, political and social issues even though economic activity and economic management without exception, affect and are affected by people living in a society.

Our main objectives are as follows:

  1. To conduct research aimed at informing, policy making on some of the most intractable development challenges facing the Eastern and Horn of Africa region.
  2. To assemble and make available information and knowledge pertinent to African development at the cutting edge of scholarly production.
  3. To serve as a reflection and discourse  forum on policies critical to African development.
  4. To coordinate interactive forums for learning and training targeting civil servants, diplomats, civil society leaders and other actors in regional and international development with specific focus on the EAC and the Great Lakes Region.

Our Vision

ARRF’s vision is a world class Forum that generates policy alternatives to political, social and economic challenges facing Eastern  and the Greater Horn of  Africa Region  for the promotion of sustainable development.

Our Mission

The Forum’s mission is to facilitate and enhance thinking and action on development challenges facing East Africa and the Greater Horn of Africa through a  series of workshops, conferences, publication and dissemination of output, as well as the establishment of a data and information bank.
